  • Special Edition and Sibelius

Having tried the Sibelius 5 demo with Special Edition, everything seems to work fine in general.

What I am wondering is has anyone tried mapping all the articulations, etc., in Sibelius to any of the VSL libraries?

It would seem to me that it is possible, but would require a huge number of instances of the VSL player open.

    Am I missing something here?
Is there a more simple method of integration?

    Look forward to any experiences/info!

  • The Sibelius people are writing a sound set for the VSL SE. It's official release is now overdue so it is probably worth chasing it on the Sibelius Tech forum.

They are also going to release a sound set editor so that users can write their own sound sets to work with SIB5. Which I think is also overdue. Still they have been busy.

My understanding is that you should only need one instance of VI for each stave/part in the score. If a part divides in the score i.e you may have several staves for Violin 1 say, then you will need seperate VIs for each stave.

  • Thanks Dave,

I think that is good enough for me to go ahead with a purchase.
Do you know what the bundled sounds are like?

    Cheers,
    Scott

  • Do you mean the bundled sounds with SIB5? - if so that's the Sounds essential and they are excellent if inevitably lacking some articulations. Using Sounds essential and SIB5 default reverb I can play full 20th century orchestral scores i.e around 30 staves.

  • Thanks Dave, that's exactly the answer I was looking for.

I'm off to buy it, no more scoring in Cubase for me any more [:)]

    Cheers,
    Scott
