  • Waltz piece

I recently started making a piece of music as a gift for someone close to me. I wanted to share it here to get some feedback and hopefully improve it. It's sort of a Waltz. It came out sounding a little sad/depressing but that wasn't the intention.

The piece is at here: susanswaltz.mp3.

I'm trying to think what libraries I used for it - It has some VSL, some Project SAM and some free samples I found (the music-box was an awesome find and I wanted to test it out on this piece [:D] I'll try and remember where I got it!)

    Any comments/crits/suggestions would be appreciated.

  • hi,

well at first: i like the melodie played with bells in the second half (missed the english name for "glockenspiel" [:)])

well though the quality of compositions is pretty much high in here... there are people that can help you better than i can..
simply the end is a little bit to usual to my mind... i wouldnt finish the track that was (last measure)

about the sound... to be honest, the piano sounds terrible [:)]... maybe try to take out some frequencies at 530 hz and it a bit more brilliant sound with some high frequencies..

strings... well i am also a beginner with the vsl, but the viola sounds a little bit unrealistic, getting better, when the cello comes in... sometimes it helps to edit the velocity with controler.. a little bit of "knobbing" is the most easy way to make the vsl more realistic (for further tricks, dont ask me - as i mentioned before - i also no vsl-prof. [:)]

at all... hopefully you think about this critic as "constructive"... dont want to give you a kick or something like this..

well at least this one isnt "sad" to me [:)]

    and.. greetings to susan [:)]
