  • Still waiting after all these months.

I've got the Sym[honic Cube installed an an external Raid ) array. I'm using VSL with an 8-core Mac, 8Gb RAM.

It hasn't worked since I copied files over from my Quad-core (noon- Intel) Mac.

The Vienna Instruments Standalone doesn't respond.
I tried installing the SoftwareOSX - 1.10 Intel installation.
I also tried the Intel updates: no files are updated.
I've copied files to the Direrctory Manager (I didn't erase the previous ones).
When I visit the web site, I'm told that none of my programs need updating.
Can I re-install the Standalone? How?
    Any suggestions welcome.
    I'd hate to sell it.

  • The only thing I would say it try re-installing a fresh copy of one of the cube libs and see if that works.

Also, if you didn't delete the previous files references in directory manager, that might be a problem.

  • Have you deleted all the files in the Directory Manager and dragged them back in? That's a known fix - so completely delete ALL the files in the Directory Manager and then drag them in from whatever drives the samples are stored on. The Directory Manager doesn't actually copy the files but just references them from the drives they're on.

You may know this but I thought I would make sure because it's a show stopper whenever you copy files over from different drives to new ones.

    I see mentioned above...

  • Yeah, but you made it more clear than I did. [:)]

  • i would also recommend to check if the custom data folder is set, the respective location has read & write permissions, check the permissions generally (for the system volume using disk utility).

the current software version is 1.11 - if you decide to update please reboot before and after updating (!)
    christian

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • I used Spotlight to find the folder. It's empty. Is this a problem?
How do I check the " read & write permissions, check the permissions generally (for the system volume using disk utility)"?

"the current software version is 1.1" I assume that you mean the Standalone Player. How do I cehck for the version?

  • Open the Directory Manager which should now show all your VSL instruments (even though you may have dragged them in from different drives.) At the bottm right of the Diretory Manager is a butob that says 'Custom Folders" click on it and make sure a folder is selected there: Mine looks like this:
    /Applications/1. VSL VI/Matrixes

Hit the browse button at the right to select a folder and you're done.

It's okay if it's empty but the player needs to see it so you can save your own matrixes there.

  • I changed permissions of the folder to reaqd and write (by changing the owner from the system to me).
I also deleted all of the files and dragged the folder ffrom the external array.

Why would I want to create another folder?

  • You don't need another folder just make sure the custom folder is selected in the Directory Manager (which it sounds like you have so your cool there.)

    Are things working?
