    Are there any advantages to using a 10,000 RPM drive with VSL SE? Is anyone using one for their samples? I'm using a 1.5 TB SATA2 on my Mac Pro, and am experiencing drop outs of long samples- which I assume is a streaming issue.

    Other than the obvious advantages to a 10k rpm drive (faster seek time, etc.), would this help with the longer samples dropping out?

    Does anyone have any experience with this???

    1,5 TB, this are 2 750 GB seagates, right? work fine and reliable here.
    are they configured as some kind of raid array? ... usually (OS X built in) soft raid works fine too ...
    but of course 10k drives usually allow lower seektime and so higher throughput, but are louder and get hotter.
    have you already tried to play with buffer settings?

    I have a 250GB system drive and 3 Seagate 500GB drives in an OSX configured raid.
    I do get marginally better results with the drop out problem with higher latency settings in DP, but I would like to keep the latency set no higher than 256 (so that I can actually play my parts in). Are there any known issues with my current raid setup that you are aware of, and do you think a 10k drive would give me better performance with a 256 buffer setting?

    i'd consider it to be more a DP limitation than a drive or raid problem ... from what i've been told the same song (using SE) performing well in logic was problematic in DP on the same machine ... you might need to tweak around with settings a bit
