• Complete list of disposition of Organ?

Hello,

I am writing a piece for organ and saxophone quartet.
If I want to notate things properly, I will need some more written info for the Vienna Concert Organ. I don't find what I want in the manual.
Is there for instance a complete list of the disposition of the Vienna Concert Organ?
I am also at a loss what 'Manual Reg Gedackt' means, or Manual Reg Plenum.
It sounds all very nice but I want to know a bit more about what I am doing. I can move things up or down an octave, will it still fit on the real organ-keyboard? I would say other pipes (16' or 32') are used when octavating down. Is the default setting 8'?
I do not find any information about the length of pipes.
In general some more technical info would be appreciated.

Greetings,

Gerard

• Dear Gerard,

Apart from the documentation included within the VI, the complete list is available on-line:

click here

All included registrations (which use only one stereo-voice per key, opposed to your own registration made up of single stops) where compiled from the single stops we supply.

This is the raw list of the _original_ names of all stops included in the Vienna Konzerthaus Organ:

... but this is more or less what you find in the VI's browser, too. There are pipe-legths in feet (like 8'), sometimes one stop consists of several flutes per key (eg. "Mixtur 4f.")

Of course, the nomenclature of my original list is in German, some of the names are translated to their most common English equivalent within the VI. Is this what disturbs you? Then this table of translations may help you:

-> http://www.die-orgelseite.de/registertabelle.htm

There used to be an Encyclopedia of Organ Stops here ...

-> http://www.organstops.org/

... but this site seems to be off-line at the moment.

Or are you looking for more information on the instrument itself? Good online resources for basic as well as more detailed info can be found here:
