  • VSL Special Edition and Performance Detection

    Hello,

I have a question about the performance detection in the special edition. In the videos you see special performance matrixes... i cannot find them in the special version. Are there any presets to use the performance / speed detection or do I have to create them for myself? I thought, I just could load a big matrix and anything else workes automatically!

    Thanks for your help!

  • You don't get the full universal mode with the Special Edition. Although .. and I speak from experience .. the Legato performance modes of the SE are much better than the original First Edition and Pro Edition.

I'm using it right now [:D]

The SE still has a pretty amazing performance but you can set up your own performance detection set .. sort of .. but selecting the "Speed" controller in the H-span in the "Control Edit" pane on the VI player .. and set up what articulations you want .. although you are missing many of the more subtle smaples with the SE so it's not quite the same.

Please correct me if I'm wrong someone .. but as I undertstand it the full universal mode is something you get only with the full library. However as I said .. the performance legato mode on the VI SE is pretty bloody good .. I'm having soo much fun with the sax's right now.

  • Thank you for your posting! But how can I load the "legato mode"? Is it any legato patch in "patch assign"? In the "matrix assign" I just can load "solo cello" and so on... I really don´t know how to load / use a preset for this mode.

  • Hehe .. it's quite simple once you know where to load things from. You can load all the articulations .. legato .. staccato etc .. from the main preset pane .. but I tend to prefer loading the matrix presets form the "Matrix Assign".

In "Matrix assign" you can pick and choose with more detail .. which is what I'm used to with the First Edition. So if you click on an instrument .. and then highlight lets say a "Solo Violin" .. the window in the middle you'll see what Articulations you can have on the Matrix Preset.

You'll almost always find Legato .. Sustain .. and other Articulations in this section.

Then you just need to use the right keyswitch to choose between Legato and all the others.

    Hope this helps.

  • Ok, I already got this. I just thought, there would be a "bigger" matrix for a more automatic performance / speed control like in the videos.

Thank you again for your help!

  • Well of course if you get the full libraries they do contain a much bigger amount of data and articulation. The vids were done using the Full Symphonic cube. But bare in mind that you do have the speed control and all that in the player .. you can use that anytime you like.

Anyways .. glad to be of help, and I wish you luck with your music.
