I'm looking to get a really top notch acoustic piano library, mainly for making classical recordings (cello and piano etc.). I've listened to the Vienna Instruments Bösendorfer examples, and they sound great. Only thing is I'm using Pro Tools HD on a (PPC) Mac G5, which is connected via MIDI to a dedicated Gigastudio PC, which currently doesn't have a sequencer installed.
I understand there are some issues at the moment using Vienna Instruments with Pro Tools, so I don't think this is an option for me right now? Does anybody know if there will be a Giga version of this library, or are all of these new libraries only available as Vienna Instruments, forever?!
The other option would be to install a sequencer on the PC, although this seems a bit excessive. Any ideas on what the cheapest way to do this would be which would allow me to install/run the Bösendorfer Vienna Instrument plugin? Perhaps I wouldn't need the most up to date version of the sequencer, maybe an older version of Cubase or something could suffice save money?
The other option is the Synthogy libraries, which should work standalone in Pro Tools. Does anybody have experince of these libraries compared to the Vienna Instruments Bösendorfer? I've listened to all the examples of both, and they are both impressive, but sometimes it's hard to tell when there are various playing styles/amounts of reverb etc. on each example.
Thanks in advance.
Martin
