  • Packages?

At least as an option, why doesn't VSL (and others as well) have recommended hardware/software/library packages for each library they produce that have been pre-loaded, pre-tested, and are even sold as "bundles", so that when you receive it, it is as ready-to-go as the user is. Some people apparently have no trouble at all with the libraries, while others seem to have nothing BUT trouble - regardless of how much they invest. Much of the trouble seems to stem more from mismatched components than from faulty software/hardware. I'm sure the "recommended" software/hardware companies would be more than happy to do a "co-op" with VSL.

  • Hi JCL2,

there´s many reasons for this: One is that there are different products available in different countries, another one is that the hardware business is changing super fast.... it´s very hard to keep up with this speed, not to mention the many tests you have to make with all the different components that are constantly updated, all the new drivers and operating systems and hosts.....

Our support is handling 90% hardware and configuration problems, only 10% are Vienna Instruments specific..... and every computer is different, not to mention the many different musicians and composers who all have their specific workflow and expectations.

The Vienna Instruments have been optimized to work perfectly fine on Windows XP SP2 without any additional tweaks and also on Mac OS X 10.4 (or higher).
It is a science to build a good DAW, and there´s quite a few companies out there that will be happy to help you with it - and they will consider your special wishes and maybe even integrate existing equipment, so that you can save some money.... plus you have the support you can expect from a professional company!

We want to focus on our strengths: To give you the best samples and the customized software for virtual orchestrations! And we will be happy to assist you with all your questions concerning the Vienna Instruments and the integration into your setup [:)]

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thanks, Paul. Well, it was worth a try! When I finally have my virtual VSL studio configured (at least on paper), I will submit it to you for, at least, a mystical nod of approval. I won't mention brand names publicly. Thanks for the quick responce.
