  • Portament there but not there??

I just got the Symphonic Strings I and II.
When I load the preset for the level 1 VSL (Violins) It loads fine but the portamento does not sound when I turn the mod wheel up.

I went into Patch Assign and could see it was loaded, but when I move the mod wheel up, the sound stops.

I've tried this with the cellos and basses and all is fine.
I'm new so I may be doing something wrong, but it doesn't seem so since the others are working.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Neal,

a library update for Orchestral Strings I, which you can find here: http://vsl.co.at/en-us/68/375/240.vsl fixes this issue.

You also can manually drag the portamento patch to the dedicated cell in the Matrix, and than saving the Matrix as custom Matrix file.

  • Thanks Herb.

I went to the link you supplied but it said not downloads are available for me.

But I did figure out how to pull up the port patch and plug it into the matrix.
    Then saved it.

    Thanks for the help.

  • neal, i noticed you had a double registration which is merged now - please revisit.

  • Thanks CM. I'm downloading them now.

  • HMMM.

I saw two other downloads (solo strings and Symhonic Orch. II) so I thought I'd update those too.

The first update (symphonic stgs I) went fast. Then I tried the other two and they both hung up with a beach ball. I forced quit and opened Digital Performer 5 but got an error message. Something about the activation key or registration. Don't recall. But those two no longer load.

    Help!

  • please doublecheck if all data files for splo strings and orch strings II are present in the directory manager and of course none of this files are open (eg. a patch is loaded in an open VI) - i'd recommend to reboot (or at least log off / log on) before running updates to make sure no processes are still running.

  • Well, it might be the weather, but I did have all my libraries open in the Directory Manager yesterday and it didn't work.

Today I did the exact same thing and it DID work.

    Go figure??

    Thanks.
