  • How to use VI on external PC and a Mac Sequencer?

Unfortunately I could not find an answer in the manual:

I´m using Logic on a Mac G5 and an external PC, which I just use for gigastudio.
Can I use more than one VI on the PC?
Do I have use the stand-alone-version or is there a way to load VI into the Gigastudio?

    Thanks for helping!

  • Load the VI into a VST host. Giga is not a VST host, so it won't work using this software.

  • Any suggestions, which programm to use?

  • Hi Felix - yes, I recommend Forte. I use it to run multiple VI's (along with other instruments) on a PC, all sequenced via Logic from a Mac G5. It works very well for me. If you want to go on using your Giga libraries you should consider buying GVI (Giga Virtual Instrument), which also runs happily under Forte.

  • Dear Felix,

Here is another vote for Forte (made by a company called Brainspawn). I have found it to be very solid - and yes you can run many VI instances on the same machine - I currently have a machine for each of Strings, Wind, Brass, and (Percussion & Giga).

If you think you may expand to additional machines in the future, it's worth taking a look at MIDI Over Lan, made by MusicLab. It'll remove the need for all those additional MIDI interfaces you tend to need. Again, I've found it incredibly solid (and been able to forget about it entirely) in operation.

Hope this is of some help.

    Kind Regards,

    Nick.

  • Another option is Plogue Bidule (http://www.plogue.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=21&Itemid=35">http://www.plogue.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=21&Itemid=35). Been working well for me...
