  • Simple inquriy on Vienna II Special Ed vs. Bosendorfer Piano

    Hello---

This is my first post onto the forum so please pardon if this has been answered before (I suspect it may have)... but I am considering the purchase of the Special Edition libraries and notice that they include the Bosendorfer 290 samples. My question: is the separately sold Vienna Instruments Bosendorfer the same or an extended version? If the same instrument/articulations are, in fact, included in the Vienna II Special Ed. libraries, I'll be much more inclined to acquire those instead.

    Thanks very much!

  • The piano included in the VSL SE is nothing to write home about. I think it's 3 layers pedal up and 3 layers pedal down. As much as I really like VSL SE, I think the included piano was more of an afterthought than anything particularly useful...maybe in a crowded mix it would work but it's certainly nothing I'd want to use as a solo instrument.

I don't know anything about the full edition of the piano....I would guess that it sounds much better, so if you're primarily interested in the piano, you should get the full version.

  • That makes sense, especially based on the price differential. I appreciate your input!
