  • Questions about the 99-release folder

Hi - I am making my way around VSL for the first time and finding things that I do not yet understand.

One item is the folder labeled 99-Release.

    My questions..

    1. What exactly are the items in this folder for?

    2. How do I use them? Based on their individual labels they seem to be associated with individual patches or instruments.

    3. Am I supposed to load these along with a instrument patch?

    4. How would the sound be different with or without them?

    5. Is there any info on within the forum or the VSL site regarding these.

    Thanks.

It's described in each pdf content manual, here is the wording:

    99 Release
This section contains release samples for various patches of the other sections. Please do not try to load them into a
Vienna Instruments matrix – you will not be able to hear anything when you try to play them.

  • In other words, the VI uses these release samples in conjunction with its patches but users can't load them separately. It does therefore seem a little strange to have them on display - when I asked VSL support about it they explained that currently the Vienna Instrument has no way of hiding these patch names from users.
