  • Mac or PC?

    1. Make sure you have first installed the Syncrosoft software (5.2.10.x) and have your Vienna or other Syncrosoft key plugged directly into one of the computer's USB ports.

    http://syncrosoft.com/License_Control_Center-78-11.html

    2. Make sure you can access your user account page. Go to your download page and download/install the most recent Vienna Instruments Installer. You should also register your Vienna Key as well.

    http://vsl.co.at/en-us/68/141/246.vsl
    http://vsl.co.at/en-us/68/375/238.vsl

    3. Start the VI installer installed on your hard drive and then proceed with the installation.

    4. Once that's done, go to your VSL registration page and register your code with VSL. You will be given an activation code immediately as soon as you enter it. You will also receive an e-mail shortly afterwards with the same activation code.

I'd just copy/paste the code that comes up on the VSL site into a blank email for the moment.

    5. Start Syncrosoft License Control Center (which is called 'License Control Center' on your hard drive).

    6. Go to the Wizards menu and select License Download.

    7. You can copy the entire authorization code from your e-mail and paste it into the Syncrosoft window in one fell swoop-- no need to type all those numbers in manually.

    8. Click enter just below the numbers and eventually you will see a START prompt. Click that, and the license will be downloaded.

    9. Quite everything and open the Vienna Instruments Directory Manager.

    10. Drag in your samples into this window from whatever hard drive they were installed. These will be aliases, but it tells Vienna Instruments where your samples are stored.

    11. Create a user folder for your own patches at the bottom of this window-- make sure you remember the data patch-- easy to forget sometimes.

    12. Quit Directory Manager and shut the computer down (probably a restart is all that's necessary on the PC)

Start your DAW and load your instruments.

  • As you can see Ben, it's really simple. [[;)]]

  • welcome ben, with all respect: *does not work properly* is alittle bit thin as description of your problem ... at least your operating system should be mentioned.

Conquer, i think it has been really nice from JWL to touch all possible points where something could have happened.

the license download has been successful AFAIS, so the *not properly* must be referring to something else.

Can't say it's fun to do, that's for sure.

I wonder what happened to Ben?

  • >I think it has been really nice from JWL to touch all possible points where something could have happened.

Me too. It's great that people in this forum take such trouble to help each other - any luck yet Ben?

  • thanks for your help everyone:

it seems like i got it installed, however, i have encountered a new problem.

fyi- i am using VSI orchestral strings 1 w/ digital performer 5 (mac osx.4)

I am having serious problems and cannot open my dp (digital performer) 5 files after installing Vienna instruments (orchestral strings 1). Running Mac os x.4

EVERYTIME I TRY TO OPEN UP A DP5 FILE, IT IMMEDIATELY CRASHES. IT WAS NOT DOING THIS BEFORE.

I HAVE BEENB USING Dp 5 FOR YEARS AND and all associated files, etc. have been working well until I installed this VSI PLUG IN yesterday.

Apparently, I have narrowed it down to this RECENT Vienna instruments install. I believe I installed everything correctly, as confirmed by the software installer, but something went wrong between the install and now.

I REALLY NEED TO GET BACK ON TRACK AND NEED SOME HELP NOW !!.

WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS?

I REALLY NEED THIS PLUG IN TO WORK W/ DP5

    PLEASE CONTACT ASAP.

    THANKS

  • Hey Ben:

    Try this:

Go to User Library> Preferences> Digital Performer> *Audio Unit Info Cache*

    Delete the AUI Cache file.

Shut down the computer, and try to load it up again.

If that doesn't do it try this:

    Macintosh HD> Library> Preferences> Digital Performer> *Preferences*

    Delete that particular Preferences file.

To ensure that any stubborn code gets flushed and refreshed, shut down the computer entirely for a few minutes, then get a solid boot from 'dark'.

I would also recommend DP 5.11 if you don't have it already.

  • ben, not sure how familiar you are with common practice in internet media, but CAPS usually means CRYING ... and just for the records: DP5 has been announced for NAMM 06 http://www.motu.com/other/press/dp5-pr.pdf
