  • Difference between perf rep legato and legato on same string

I have Appassionata Strings and I thought perf rep leg was basically legato on the same string.. but I'm looking at the articulations for VI Solo Strings, and I see it has both legato on the same string, and perf repetition legato. What's the difference? (in other words, if I wanted to play C G G and the last two notes is just a bow direction change..)

  • "perf repetition legato"
offers legato performed repetitions on the same note,
therefor this are no interval legatos (not on different and not on the same strings)

  • Ah right..that makes sense. Thanks!

  •  Hello Herb,

How could i use this "rep-Legato". It is also intendet to crossfade in a "p-Leg-Sample"?

That works great!! (with a fast Crossfade to a pLeg.)

    Thx anyway

    Ron

  • Herb, I'm so sorry to bring this up again but it seems every time the topic comes up I'm confused again.  What's the difference between the same-note legato in a regular performance legato patch and the same-note legato in a perf rep patch?  Thanks for being patient with me!

    Hi Ron,

    Yes, that works.

    1) (Legato): There´s only ONE sustained note repetition.

    2) (Perf Repetitions): Multiple Repetitions in different lengths (staccato, portato, legato). Legato Repetitions contain 5 reps, faster Repetition Patches contain 9 patches (check Library Manual for details).

    Best,
