  • Correct playing technique for Perf Trills - Appassionata Str

    Hello all

There seems to be two ways to play trills with these patches:

1.hold down C4 and play repeatedly on D4 WITHOUT lifting C4

2.alternate the two notes as you would for a standard piano trill

How did the VSL programmers intend this patch to be played: method 1 or method 2?

    Thanks,
    Mike.

  • Defenitely method 2.
With method 1 you would triggering always the same down intervallsample, so the effect is the same you would achieve when you play trills with normal performance legato stuff.
Method 2 triggers the alternating up and down intervalsamples correctly.

  • Thanks Herb.

Appassionata Strings layered with Solo Strings is the closest I've ever got to my "dream" string sound - unbelievable.

    Congratulations!

    Mike.

  • I am thinking of upgrading my Opus1 to SE. Would the trills be done the same way with that library? It really sounds like so much can be done with it!
    Thanks
    Chris

  • There are no trills in SE. There is no universal mode matrix (at least not like anything in the videos). It's really a stripped down library. That said, what is there is extremely nice. Just don't think that it contains everything and then some from Opus 1 or any other previous library.

  • Dragonwind - you'd still have to use the Trills patches from Opus if you got SE. It means one more midi track - not the end of the world I. The rest of SE is so good that I'm happy to put up with the small inconvenience.

Pity they were excluded - but hey, I guess something had to be tossed out.

Herb hinted that they may be available as an expansion pack one day - now THAT would be cool!
