Midi Demos

Hi All,

Well finally getting to grips with the Cube and am toying with ordering the performance set but I'm coming a little stuck - i'm rather new to large orchestra arrangements.

I've heard all of the demos and was particularly impressed by the Jazz styles ones (Goodbye NY is great). I've been trying to copy (sorry) the arrangement to get a feel for the cube's power but my mixes sound awful. In particular my Clarinet (I guess it is) sounds nothing like the one on Goodbye NY. Is this purely a (Legato) Perfomance Set vs Cube thing? It sounds really nasal and tinny.

So any pointers on this or just general sequencing technigques would be most welcome.

Also would anyone be willing to share a midi file of their work for analysis and disection to newbies like myself. The midi demos on the site are not really complex enough for me to understand how you put all these great orchestral pieces togehter.

Any help or pointers very much appreciated

Hello Tim,

the clarinet solo was definetely programmed with performance legato samples.

Especially an instrument like a clarinet, which needs little time to develop the tone, benefits a lot with the legato samples.

I'm working now on new demos at the moment, there will be also dedictaed "Cube" demos, and I can support the midifiles for all who are interested on this site.

The arrangements are more complex than the midifiles in the tutorial topic, but not too complex for analyzing (IMO)

Excellent news. I gave in and ordered the performance set, it arrived today and yes the Legato Clarinet is fantastic.

I would be very keen on seeing some of the midi files if you are able to post them on this site or even just email me one. Even something like the VSL_Introduction and VSL_FullOrchestra would be fascinating to analyse.
