  • Licenses disapears and player stops working WHY.

I'm pulling my hair out using VSL. Trying to figure out what the F is going on.

SS Control Center sees the licenses and I have refreshed YET on the player it says there no license installed.

I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF A PROJECT! HELP!

  • This happens a fair amount. You have to pull the key and reboot the MAC. Then it sees it again.

    Nonsense!

  • gary, there must be something else in the game ... have you updated (LCC, VI, logic) while something related to licenses was running? is your USB bus a *real* USB 2.1 version and the key connected directly or via a hub and do you have any demanding USB device connected like video? do you run any firewall/antivirus software on the machine?

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.

Those are all great questions C.

Ahh well yes Firewall is on. On all the other points no, yes, yes, no
    and no antivirus.

It looks to me that possibly FW is in the mix so I'll turn that off and see is it settles down.

The key is plugged directly into the front Mac port which is by itself. I do plug and unplug the key during the day to use my printer though and return the key when finished. Maybe that's part of the issue but if it is, why does it drop off in the middle of a session? Why does Control Center see the licenses but VSL can't see it forcing me to reboot the machine to off to get communication once again?

  • the vienna instruments software is using TCP port 6179 to communicate with the license control application - so this port needs to be open locally in your firewall.
btw: all firewalls should allow local calls by default ... are you using the built-in firewall in stealth-mode?

  • I will let you know on that later today

No stealth mode or anything else remarkable was on.
    Sharing on.
