  • Untitled Audio Instrument in Logic

    Hello,

I have a problem in Logic with the plug-in VI instrument:
When I load a Vienna instrument I do the following: In Logic I create a track, I choose Audio Instrument for this track and then for instance Instrument 1 out of a list of Instrument 1 to 16 or so.
I load the Vienna Plug in, and choose a matrix that I load. I want the name of this matrix on the track in Logic of course. So I change the name 'Instrument 1' to 'Tenor sax Articulation combi'. (on the left where it says (Audio Object).
When I reload the song, I see on the track now the name 'Untitled'.
This name cannot be changed anymore, I can nowhere find 'untitled', except on the track. Whatever I type, it keeps this 'untitled' name.
The instrument is still called 'Tenor sax Articulation combi', but not on the track. This is very anoying! I don't know how or where to change it.

Anybody had the same problem? I hope someone can help.

    Greetings,

    Gerard

  • The only way Logic can get the name of the matrix for the track automatically and keep it is to save it under the little pull down window that first comes up when you click to open the VI. If you save the name there it will transfer to the track name. Not the answer you wanted I'm sure.

  • To be more specific: the button that Jamieh is referring to is the pull down button directly underneath the "Bypass" button on the Vienna Instruments control panel (the panel which states "Vienna Instruments AudioUnit-Server Interface" and has the Show Window button - i.e. NOT the large VI GUI interface). Select "Save Setting As" and give the instrument a name.

When you name an audio instrument in this fashion the name does not - at least in my experience - immediately appear. Save the file, close it and then reopen it and the name will appear. Then, when you record on this track, the track itself - - as well as the instrument - - will have the name you have given it, just as it does when you use EXS24.
