  • Loading Jay's preset files

I was wanting to analyze how Jay used the strings and what volumes in the MIDI file he provided. However, I don't understand how what to do with these preset files? Where do they go in a mac enviroment?

And are we allowed to use these presets for our own work?

  • I work on a PC so I'm not quite sure what you need to do on the Mac. For the PC you can click on the drop down menu near the top of VI instance that says "VST Preset Options." You then can click on the "load preset" option and select the desired .fxp preset file.

Feel free to use anything in my tutorials files as you desire.

    Best,
    Jay

  • When you installed VI, you chose a folder for VI files (though you may not remember it now). Jay's presets go in that folder.

    If you did forget:
    Open VI Directory Manager.
    Click on [Custom Folders...]
The Dialog window that opens will take you to your chosen folder.

When you next open VI, the presets will show in the file browser.

    I did this:
    I made a sub-folder called [Presets]
Inside that, I made a folder called [Tutorial presets] and I put all of Jay's files (and others) inside there.
Now in my VI browser, the folders show and I know which are Jay's presets and which are mine - mine are in a folder with my name.

Just some housekeeping which may help you...
