  • What Is Causing This?

Sometimes when I play a legato patch like the 3 trumpets non vib which I am using tonight, on the last note of a phrase, after the note naturally dies out, when I lift off of the note it triggers another short repeat of the final note. It is as if the OFF velocity is somehow trigger another note attack. I've had it with string patches too.

    Something I need to adjust?

    Thanks
    Tom H

  • You're hearing the release sample. Usualy, that's a good thing, but the patch you're playing doesn't sustain. So the sample runs its course, and then you let up the key, and then the release plays. You can unselect "play release" in the Perform tab. Also, if you used 02_Tr-3_perf-legato_noVib_sus, you wouldn't have that problem -- in perf-legato patches with "_sus" added, the release sample blends into the looped sustain on key off.

Hey thanks Plowman, this has been driving me crazy...I'm still not clear on WHY they would have it default to playing a release on a legato sample like this if what I'm hearing is the result...could you explain it a little more, like "RELEASE SAMPLES FOR DUMMIES" or something? [;)]

  • Tom, you would need the release if you played the note at any length shorter than the full, recorded one. What you need to do is set a controller to switch the releases on and off, so that if you do run into this situation then you won't get the extra note.

Ah gotcha. I'm really dumb about this stuff, but that makes sense. Thanks DG..
