  • OT: replacing Drive - how to reinstall VI?

    Hi there,

I don't know if anyone else has had the misfortune to have a drive crash but I need to swap out my 'samples' drive and wondered what I needed to do with Vienna.

The boot drive is fine (which holds the software and Directory Manager) - do I just need to reinstall all the brass samples (that PC was just running Brass and the free Choir).

I assume I also have to re-download the Choir free samples (and problems there VSL?)

What about LCC / dongle (again since the C drive is staying put - should be OK here?

[8o|] such a bummer that a $59 part can literally shut me down.

Thanks for any experienced advice you can offer in making this change out as painless as possible

  • Found someone local to swap out the bad drive for a good one. They are going to try to 'clone' the old sample drive to see if it is salvageable.

But just in case - has anyone had to go through re-installing VI samples on their slave PC?

I have the free SOP choir samples on that drive as well. Can't find those disks (was that ONLY an download? If so, how can I get them again?)

    Many thanks.

  • VSL (Herb or CM) - still haven't heard back from my tech on whether this HD information (samples) is salvageable. Just in case - I logged into the 'user area' and do not see the choir free samples there. As luck would have it - the project I am currently in the middle has a LOT of these samples.

How can I get those fast?

    Many thanks.

  • rob, you will receive an email ... to have that said: it is always a good idea to keep backups, especially from time-limited offers [;)] the soprano choir would even fit on a CD ...

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thanks Christian,

Yea - just went down and got a couple of backup USB 320 gb drives to back up all 4 slaves running VI [:O]ops:

Thanks for helping me out on this one. I'll be first in line for the whole choir when it releases later this week [:D]

    Seriously thanks,
