Having some issues with Violin-Viola-Cello Solo samples (legato perf intervals mainly).
Basically we have built a String section on seperate tracks in Digital Performer 5.01 (Mac Quad PPC maxed RAM), and having some troubles with the Performance Interval Legato samples where it sounds as if there is more than one string being played when this sample is loaded.
We havent had any trouble thus far, however the one thing we did do today was add a MIDI track to control the Velocity X-fades of all the string parts by setting its output to a Device Group we created that included our 10 string VI tracks (using CC#17 for on/off and CC#18 for the X-fade itself on the track so as to countour the velocities universally for the entire section). At certain points it does sound like the samples are starting to clip and ignore notes sporatically. The clipping is not on our end with levels, just as if its overloaded. However even dis-enabling all the VI tracks but the Solo Violin (the one we're mainly having trouble with) doesnt seem to solve it either, even tho all the other sample are not loaded.
If anyone has any suggestions/theories please let me know...
some quick general background on the setup...
1. None of our Matrixes have more than 5 or so articulations in them, they are custom to this project alone and not the defaults.
2. Also the Violin/Viola/Cello Custom Presets we have has duplicate matrixes next to each other with the exception of on the 2nd matrix in the Preset there is a Parallel Sample loaded to get a fuller sound from them at certain points in the orchestration with the exact same articulations/keyswitches as the first. The keyswitches between the 2 matrixes are unique from any of the Horiz/Vert keyswitches.
3. Should I be concerned, or does VI have an issue with Device Group commands when used as plugins? It works great... when it works... jus curious.
anyways hope i can get some answers, and thank you
