  • Vienna Instrument - appassionata & VST/Nuendo v3

    Hi,

New here although I'm an experience composer. film/tv etc....

Just bought this VI, its my first! GREAT sound!!
    However.....

I run Nuendo on a 2G Dual Core machine.
(Plus giga on another machine and video on another)

Thought I could install and run VI on my main machine.
However it seems to mess up Nuendo - audio started 'white noising' and disappearing. Also the project started crashing.

I downloaded the appropriate updates, but this didn't help.

Guess I could install it and run it as a stand alone on my giga machine(?), but would rather not.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks......................................................

    Malc

  • welcome malc,
there should be no compatibilty issues - we had a lot of instances running alongside nuendo, i'd say it's better than to run it on a giga-machine (especially if the computer is optimized for giga) ... the white noise is possibly an ASIO-issue ...

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Hi Malc,

I use Nuendo 3.2 with the VI, and nothing has ever worked better.
Even when I simultaneously use Giga 3 in Rewire, while running many Kontact players, Altiverb, Video etc... VI stands as a rock, no crashes, no trouble.

Of course, every case is different, every PC has its own "character".

But I thought you'd like to hear some positive news: it can and should work absolutely fine in Nuendo!
It might very well be another reason, like cm said.

Can this be checked in the vst version?

Sorry - perhaps this is a dumb question...

  • ASIO config has to be checked within nuendo or the settings dialog of your soundcard, which might be multi-client capable or not - try to seperate your audio outs in a first step

  • Gave up and set-up on another machine.
However - the output is going to 'wave-out' and I need it to go to 'spdif-out'.
Can't see how to change this in ViennI.

My driver m-audio doesn't give this option either - any thoughts.

    ta!

  • Welcome Moziee,

Your problem seems to be Nuendo-related rather than VI-related. My first thought is that there's the wrong driver chosen from Nuendo's Device > ASIO menue. What does the selection-window say?

Outputs are always chosen by the host, not from within the Vienna Instrument, BTW, as long as it isn't used stand-alone.
