    Hello,

    Running some tests with my newly acquired VI-strings, I discovered what is probably a bug, so I thought you'd like to hear it:

    Load: Orchestral Strings II/ 03VC-8 perf_spiccato_fa
    From the middle C up, play a fast arpeggio up to A.
    You'll find that the A is quite out of tune.
    Or more precisely, I think it's the legato connection note that's wrong,
    because when you hit only A, it's right.
    You can also hear it by just playing G and connecting to A.

    Sorry if this was mentioned already in an earlier post.

    In performance legato patches the sample you hear depends on the previous note played, so whatever notes one used in a fast upward arpeggio from Middle C, only the penultimate one would affect the target note.

    The cello patch you mention has two velocity layers. I auditioned the quiet layer: when I played the A above Middle C from the G below it sounded a little sharp, and when I played it from the G# below it sounded a little flat.

    The tuning deviation is so slight that many people won't be able to discern it, and the ones that can hear it may feel it's within acceptable limits. Personally I would describe it as a minor discrepancy rather than a bug.

    Okay, discrepancy it will be then, it's just that "VI Bughunt" is a better title than "VI Discrepancy Hunt" [H]

    But I do not agree that it is within acceptable limits. It sounds ugly, and I hope the good people from VSL are willing to fix it in the next library update.

    "fa" stands for "fast",
    that means the original performance was performed fast to achieve "discrepancies" (light imperfections) for more authenticity, when you programm fast movements

    I didn't know "fast" necessarily stands for "out of tune".
    I thought it meant "fast" as in: for fast playing.
    With a title such as "harsh", I would totally agree.

    To be really honest, I don't accept this explanation, with all respect.
    And don't get me wrong: it's precisely because you've created such a wonderful
    library, with such absolute overall quality in sound and tuning, that I take the trouble to report what I consider a tiny ugly spot in an otherwise beautiful object. In order to help you to improve it even more.

    Isn't that what it's all about?
