  • Vienna Instruments not functioning in Logic all of a sudden

Ever since getting Appasionatta strings, and installing version 1.10, I've had a string of problems.

The latest is that when I go to open the Vienna Instrument in Logic, I get an error message (An Error code was returned by the core audio driver), and the plug-in does not load.

When I go to open it in stand alone mode, it hangs, and I have to force quit.

My syncrosoft key has the latest update, and all my Vienna licenses do show up in the license control center.

I tried re-installing Vienna 1.10, but it fails Logic's AU validation. Oddly enough, after re-installing it, the AU component in the Components folder still says version 1.0, so I can't even be sure the latest version has installed.

Is there a way to get rid of all Vienna installs, and do it again? What could be causing this much inconsistency?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Jaimo:

Have you repaired permissions and repaired your startup disk with Apple's Disk Utility? If you have and that doesn't or didn't fix things, then I'd suggest rebuilding the directory of the startup disk using Alsoft's DiskWarrior.

In my experience, rebuilding the directory with DiskWarrior (always starting from the DiskWarrior CD) has solved otherwise inexplicable problems - - similar to the one you describe. For example:I installed Altiverb 6, Logic did not recognize Altiverb 6 but announced that Altiverb 5 was missing, I ran DiskWarrior, Logic immediately recognized Altiverb 6. I registered the plugin Ozone 3, but it did not stay registered - - every time I opened it, I had to re-enter the serial number. I ran DiskWarrior, Ozone 3 stayed registered.

    I hope this is helpful.

  • Thanks for the reply. I actually am quite religious about repairing permissions, and I had Disk Warrior rebuild my OS drive Directory about 2 weeks ago. Still, I went ahead and did it all again, and re-installed the 1.10 update, and while the Vienna AU has now passed Logic's AU Validation, all my presets are non existent.

Again, the Syncrosoft key is up to date, and is showing all my Vienna Licenses, but I can't access any of the presets.

Also, in my AU components folder, the Vienna component is showing ver 1.0, NOT 1.10. Should I be concerned with that?

Any help on getting the Vienna Instrument to see the presets would be appreciated...

  • Can you locate your presets using Spotlight? If you can, then open the Vienna Instruments Directory Manager, use the Custom folders button to navigate to the folder containing your matrices and use the choose button to select this folder. If Spotlight can't find your matrices then they may be gone from your hard drive.

Again I hope this is helpful.
