    Question about the bass instruments in Opus 1 (bass clarinet, contrabassoon, bass trombone, etc.):

    It looks as though the bass instruments are contained within the same GIG files as the main instruments. Are they separate programs, just like different articulations, or are they different parts of the keyboard, or what? Just curious. Thanks!

    Sorry to bump but I see that this thread is down far and might get lost.

    Although I think I know the answer now after reading the articulations list. It looks like the bass instruments are mapped to lower parts of the keyboard. Does this mean the full range of both the normal and bass instruments are available? I just want to make sure because some *lesser* libraries stick the bass instrument notes near the bottom of the normal instrument's range and as a result you can't get the normal instrument's low range. But I doubt you would do that! [[:)]]

    Man I have to pre-order to get the discount. I might have to look into those financing options someone suggested. 'Course I could just use a credit card. [[:)]]

    These four instruments do have a "special" mapping:

    Clarinett, Bassoon, trombone, and tuba.

    Below the natural range of these instruments we have mapped the samples of the corresponding bass instruments. So if you load for example the bassoon, you will autmatically have access to the contrabassoon samples in the lowest register.

    There are no dedicated bass mappings, to keep the mapping structure compact.

    So there won't be any articulation keys for those combined patches?

    BTW, I have finally ordered OPUS1.. at best service in europe they are expecting to receive it in around two days. Is this fact true? I am currently working on a project and I would like to know if I can wait a bit and use OPUS' sounds before my deadline (december 20th) or if I should really use some other samples.

    There are keyswitch programmings for these combined instruments.
    They work like normal mapped instruments.

    If I understand you correctly, it will not be possible to use the upper register of the bass clarinet or doubble bassoon in OPUS1??? [*-)]: [*-)]:

    For double bassoon and bass clarinet the upper register is not available in Opus 1.

    It's not a shame. OPUS 1 is supposed to be lean by design. It is mostly mapped in whole tone sample widths as opposed to every note. There are many other clever things that VSL has done to make a simple lean powerful instrument set.

    OPUS 1 is what it is by design. Those needing more have no less than TWO other more extensive more professional products to choose to buy/upgrade to.
