    Perhaps I missed it, but are there plans for any sort of Clarinet in A instrument?
    At least having the B flat instrument descend to a C sharp would be useful.
    I guess I could do that myself, couldn't I?

    This topic came up a few months back. While a clarinet in Eb (soprano) is currently in production, there are no plans that I'm aware of for a Clarinet in A. The main reason for an A Clarinet is, of course, to facilitate fingerings in keys with many sharps. However, some people claim that they much prefer the tone of the A Clarinet to the Bb. I can't confirm or deny this, I have a horrible time trying to find good clarinet players in my area.

    Hi John,

    Yes you're right. If you're using GS, just open up the file in the Giga instrument editor and drag the lowest region to whatever note. Make sure you do it for both the up and down samples (left & right on screen).

    I'm actually on the Mac only side and have not done much EXS editing. I think the interface is a bit of a pig, though and will involve many many small range edits. The documentation of EXS is almost nonexistant.

    Regarding the sound of the B flat versus A clarinets I find it extraordinarily hard to tell the difference (I'm an ex-clarinettist), but I've written for the A instrument either for fingering considerations or because I just couldn't live without that low C sharp!
