  • Performance Tool

    Hello,
Although I bought VSL back in January this is the first time I've had to really work with it.I am a "roadrat". My question is:
does the performance tool only work on Port 1 of Gigastudio? Or, is there a way to use multiple ports?
If so, could someone reply in detail
    please. Thank you.

  • welcome moon,
the performance tool works on every midiport available in the system, although one instance of the tool can only access one midiport, so you have to open multiple instances - one for each midiport.
also please make sure, you run version 1.1 of the tool (click the icon in the titlebar and select *info*)

  • Christian,

I've just downloaded the latest version of the Perf Tool for Giga and the info in the title bar tells me it's 1.0, but in properties it says it's version 1.0.01. Is that the latest version? - because like many people I'm having problems with stuck notes crashing machines.

    Can you help?

    Andy.

  • hmm, just checked it and you are right ... sorry for that inconveniance
pointed to a new uploaded file and installed it to verify the version
please uninstall the old one (using add/remove software) and install the new version (don't use the repair-option, this does not work for different versions)

  • I just tried the above, but am still getting the same result....

    Any ideas?

    Andy.

Again this thread should be in the GigaStudio Topic as it solely pertains to that subject.

    Thanks,

  • andy, what's your sequencer - if logic, did you turn off chase events?

MODERATOR - KEEP IT HERE. This customer is new and is looking for a little help. And if I was just starting out, I'd put the question here, too. It's a more than reasonable place to begin. Please leave it.

AFAIR only dietz moves a thread from postpro to the main forum from time to time when he feels a posting would receive more attention here - generally i feel the contributors of this forums are pretty good in selforganizing, so there has been less need to cut in administratively.
on several occasions i've also thought it might make sense to have also tech-talk in a seperate forum, but then this one had consequently to be splitted again into eg. hard- and software, ect

  • Hi Christian,

I'm using Digital Performer 3.11, Mac OS 9.22. How could this explain why it doesn't show up as the latest version of 1.1? I'm confused.

    Andy.

  • Christian,
thankyou for your reply and info.sorry it took long to respond.
Peter Alexander: thank you for your support.

Well, I'm a little confused with this question. You would see that it's version 1.1 on the install in GigaStudio. Otherwise in DP, or any other sequencer, you should be setup to have four ports from DP to your Giga, say G1, G2, G3, G4. And with each port, 16 channels available - G1-01, G1-02, etc. A Port OUT from the MIDI Time Piece should go to a Port IN on the MIDI interface you have in your GigaStudio system.

Unless the Mac can read software version numbers over MIDI connections, you won't see that the version number of the Performance Tool is 1.1.

Again, I'm a little unclear from your question. Is this helping?

Also, did you read the PDF from the VSL site that I wrote showing how to setup the Performance tool and get things connected? If you haven't read it, start there first, as it's still accurate for the current version.
