Are you planning to record a second violin section for the cube or later edition of the library?

The GOS and the sonic implants libraries have second violin sections.

Also are the following articulations going to be available in the cube:

    Spiccato
    Sul tasto
Ponticelli in Violas, Celli, Double Bass
    Natural and Artificial harmonics
    Double, Triple and Quadruple Stops
Sul G, D, A etc for Violins, similarly for violas etc.

  • At the moment we are recording the small string sections.
This sections could be used for chamber orchestra style but also for layering with the large sections.

Our focus is, that this sections matches perfectly with the large sections.

I think, that the option to mix solo, small and large sections offers more possibilities, than recording a 2nd group of violins with the same size (or a little smaller). Especially when the recording is stereo centered.

The large string sections will of course be extended.

Ponticellos for Violas, Celli, Bassi are already recorded.

Further there will come a lot of performance stuff for spiccato articulations.
(same style like the legati and our upcoming scale performances)

Also harmonics, and some patches with different "colors" like the ponticellos or our violin flautando (it's a kind of ppp sul tasto).

    Regarding double, triple, quatruple stops:
Doesn't it make more sense to produce some chord arpeggios?
I think they are much more difficult to simulate, than normal stops.

    best wishes

  • It might be worth it at some point to record the more common quadruple and triple stops for the Violins and Violas, imho. There are so many possible double stop combinations that it would quickly exceed the point of diminishing returns given the effort it would require.

  • Missing a second Violins Section is sometimes a problem for me, especially the missing 2nd perf-legato violins. Very often we have the case of both violin sections playing in unison. Therefore I have to combine forte violins with piano violins, which is only in rare cases a satisfying solution.

Having a soon-to-come section of a smaller violins group, is nice for dividing the first violins into two groups, when they play two different voicings, but I am not sure if the small group is strong enough to represent the second violins section playing in unison with the first.

  • First Kuno....i really enjoyed your demo.

In the pro editon there is a 2nd performance legato violin. the old one from the first editionis titled sul. not extensive but maybe servicable?

    hope this helps

  • Yes Craig you´re right and I discovered it just minutes after I posted my previous thread.
I think that we can expect great things to come. This was just the beginning and despite critics I still am Herb´s biggest fan. So dont get me wrong. thanks for your compliments.
