  • VSL Overdrive Questions

Could someone please simply answer yes or no (or more detail if needed) to the following questions? Thanks...

    1) Is it true this library is just 1 guitar "tone"?

    Rythym Guitar:

    2) Palm Mutes?

    3) If yes to 2, how many velocities?

    4) If yes to 2, up or down strokes?

    5) Chugs?

    6) If yes to 5, how many velocities?

    7) If yes to 5, up or down strokes?

    [H] Up Stroke Power Chords?

    9) Down Stroke Power Chords?

    10) What's the lowest note and highest note in ref to 2-9?

    11) Mono or stereo? Which patches are mono, stereo?

    Lead Guitar:

    12) How many lead guitars included?

    13) How many articulations?

    14) How many velocities per articulation?

    15) Lowest note, highest note?

    Genere:

If you HAD to pick the closest "tone" this library sounds like, which would it be? (You get the idea, feel free to add your own.) [:)] Thanks!!

    Doobie Brothers
    Judas Priest
    Rush
    Slayer
    Metallica
    Nirvana
    Korn
    Lincoln Park

    Thanks!!

  • Hi Munsie,

I'm sure Michael Hula will give you soon feedback to your questions.
But I will move this topic into the "General discussion" forum.
(Michael could miss it in the Gigastudio Forum)

    best wishes
    Herb

  • Thank you for the response. No lead guitar? So the lead guitar in the demos is not from this library or played live? ? ?

  • there is no need for a special lead guitar. you can do whatever you want with our library, rhythm, lead, scrunch, you name it! [[;)]]

  • Ok thanks for the info. Unfortunately my financial status is still in dire straits, but hopefully I'll have this library next year. I've been using QL G&B and Hans Zimmer #1 for all my virtual leads for about 3 years now, this thing does sound like an upgrade from those 2 libraries.

    Dave,

sorry to hear your situation continues....[:(]

    don't worry we are cool

the lead stuff I did on my demos is all from the lib. It is certainly miles beyond anything else for guitar and as you can hear sound quite reaisitic (especially the rock stuff [[;)]] )

    Let me clearify 12-15

    @Another User said:

    12) How many lead guitars included?

One, many, many articulations and approaches

    13) How many articulations?Hammer ons , pulloffs, marcatato trems, whammy etc,etc

    Can't remeber off hand....a lot

    14) How many velocities per articulation?

usually one or two but there are crecendos and decrecendos and other things so it's kind of hard to say. Again very versatile

    15) Lowest note, highest note

Full range for a normal 7 string guitar

    I belive that's the C1 – E6 range Michi was reffering to.

  • Metallica too !!! (I have Overdrive)

    hi, everybody!
the full range for a normal 7 string guitar is B1 to E6. for the korn stuff we RECORDED the lowest string chromatically down to C1. it was played, we tuned the string down, step by step. no processing on the computer. we have repetitions down to C1 and long notes down to C1.
i'm saying this to avoid possible confusion about what we did and how we named it.

  • What else is included in the overdrive package? Drums? Or am I dusting the wrong field here...?

The demos used with overdrive have all the same drum sounds, I think.
    But I'm very tired*gasp*...
