  • MIDIoverLAN

I'm setting up my new Giga computer with MIDIoverLAN. I can't find the disucussion between Bruce Richardson and VSL over how to set up the Performance Tool with MIDIoverLAN. Could someone point the way to the links or give me the most current info?

Also, is anyone using Cubase SX on the PC, System Link AND MIDIoverLAN?

    Thanks.

  • ahead: MoL adds an entry in the control panel - this is the place to adjust the settings. i would recommend a restart after doing this the first time.
enable the needed number of outports (midi-to-LAN) on your sequencer (check the selectboxes) and give them *friendly names* (eg. out to GS-1, ect).
enable up to four inports (midi-from-LAN) on your sampler - also here it would be a good idea to use friendly names (eg. in from SEQ-1)
in the performancetool on your sampler now select *in from SEQ-1* as inport and nemesisport 1 as outport (set midi-in 1 in GS to none) - repeat this procedure for every instance of the performancetool using the respective ports - finished.
if no performancetool is needed, select *in from SEQ-1* as inport in GS.
running GS on the same machine as your sequencer, use the local pipes just as you would do with marble-ports.
    hope that answers your question

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • As always, YES!

    Thank you!

  • System Link and MoL has worked fine in my initial tests. They are diffferent animals anyway, so there shouldn't be any issues. System link is VST/ASIO packets sent over the last few bits of a digital channel (or the whole thing if you choose), and MoL is MIDI data streamed through LAN. Neither will cross data streams.
