  • Suggestion for Symphonic Cube version 12 1/2

I was thinking the other day that it might be nice to have "sul" string instruments, like Violin sul G. I'm not sure what other combinations are common (Violoncello sul C?) Definitely not a priority, but I don't think any other libraries have this except perhaps GOS to a small extent.

You know what might be nice for the solo strings too? Avante garde effects like quarter tone vibrato in various speeds, very slow glisses, bowing beneath the bridge, etc. Just open a Penderecki score or two and you'd have plenty of ideas. Anyway, if it was with the solo instruments, one could easily build the desired effect by loading up a section's worth of instruments on 10 channels or so and then stagger them as necessary.

All the other libraries seem to have only recorded an entire section doing these effects, which is not flexible at all.

  • Agreed.

LIke I suggested before, I'd love to have a string sample library that gave me 'sul' samples for all for strings for *all* articulations and patches. This would truly allow me to customize my own personal string orchestra. However, since I'm not sure exactly how VSL's structure is in Gigastudio (I don't have it -- yet, unless Herb wants to donate a copy to KFSS Studios *wink*) so I don't know how feasible this would be in terms of ease of editing. It would also be a *massive* undertaking and would be the first of its kind.

Also, I'm not sure how many of each type of long notes were sampled, but with a full 'sul' option like I mentioned, this would make the string lines even more convincing than before. However, if Herb would consider it (possibly a 3rd version cube?) it would put VSL over other libraries even moreso IMO.

  • No comment about the KFSS donation?

Ahh well, it was worth a shot!
