    Hey all,

    I would like some input on using the legato tool. I looking for a way to get longer notes in the middle of a legato passage. Have any of you done this? If so, how are you accomplishing this?

    Sorry, I do not understand you question. In legato playing the notes are in any case the longest possible length, if not, it is not legato. But maybe you mean something else? Or you want to say that the samples are to short...?

    he means the notes after the transitions are too short.

    I've come up with an art file idea that I'm testing out, that uses giga layers (or MIDI channel layering), to overcome this. Works pretty good in initial tests for anything without a very slow attacks.

    There's also another trick for most sections. When playing legato after you make the transition to the note you want to hold, tap the sustain pedal, then let go and retrigger the note about 1 second in, then release the sustain pedal.

    Assigning attack control to the sustain pedel helps this be even smoother.

    another way to do it is to assign release AND attack control to a pedal/cc (other than sustain, or if you must sue the sustain pedal, then turn the "sustain defeat" feature in giga on) then hit the pedal and retrigger the note. Therefor making for a long release and slow attack for an even more "crossfade" type approach.
