  • 65 Small Bells - CRASHES GIGA STUDIO???!!!

I've repeatedly tried to load the Small Bells (65) giga instrument. I am greated wtih MSG 32 - ths program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down... All the other gigs in the orch. cube and perf. set load fine. Any idea what is causing this??

    Thanks,

    Colin

  • Hello Colin,

just tested the gigfile (when I'm testing I always copy the file dircect from the DVD to have equal conditions)

    The file is OK.

So I would suggest following tests:

Try to load into gigastudio not using the quick sound database.
If it works, rebuilt your database.

If it does not work try to open the file in gigaeditor.
If this also failed, make another copy from your DVD to the harddrive.

Still having no success, your distrinbutor will of course exchange the damaged disc. But I don't think the file on the disc is damaged.
In such cases the copy process was not correct or something similiar happened.

    keep us informed

  • Its possible with 96GB of data being copied, that one of the files was corrupt in the copying process.

I've had this happen numerous times with multiple gigs. VSL included.

Just delete the file, and re copy it, like Herb said.

in fact I've had other strange things happen in the copy process. Altered playback sounds, like white noise, or distorted clips, or od phasing inconsistancies. All disappear when I delete the file and recopy the disc. (I sometimes do a drive check first, to mark bad sectors).
