I'm wondering what people think about the idea of recording the woodwind ensembles as two players instead of three. Why? My experience has been that two WW players on a part are just as common as three. Plus, if you want the sound of three players, one could simply layer the existing solo woodwind with the doubled woodwind and get three players. You can't, however, subtract one player if three were sampled instead.
I understand that there would be more out-of-the-box gratification with three, however.
Any other opinions?
