    The GIGA version is available now, and Logic is pretty good at importing raw GIGA sounds with keyswitching, so it would be possible to start using those luscious VSL sounds [H] NOW...but Logic/EXS24 is my platform of choice....I have yet to see explained whether there will be a straight crossgrade option from the GIGA to the EXS24 version (when it becomes available).

    Herb I am so impressed with your vision!

    as herb is present at the NAMM and will hardly have time to answer, allow me to answer partially
    you _do_ not wish to import all the files by your own - it's an awful and timeconsuming task, and: there are slightly different naming-conventions
    for EXS regarding the cross-platform compatibility

    yes, there will be crossgrade-options - but forgive me not to mention prices
    we expected this question not before the release of the next edition

    so please be patient with us until herb finds the time to answer this kind of more specific questions

    If you are still formulating policy about this, I would STRONGLY urge you to make it possible for individual purchasers of the library to have BOTH EXS24 and GS versions available to them.

    After all, it's the sampled content that is the most important part of this product. Lots of the people who intend to spend $5k on such a product, might be installing it on a number of GS machines in their set-up, and if they were using Logic to control the system, it would be desireable to have it in EXS24 as well. As a model, look at the way Spectrasonics is marketing products like Stylus, Trilogy, and Atmosphere. A purchaser may authorize multiple machines in their studio (Mac as well as PC) to run these products with the purchase of a single license.

    Personally, I'm on the edge of committing to purchase VSL, but the current situation with GS and Tascam has me worried. Tascam is stumbling badly in supporting and updating Gigastudio (I suspect that Tascam itself is on financially hard times), and I fear the product may not last in the marketplace, especially considering the intense competition from other soft sampler products.

    I'm willing to fork over a lot of money for VSL, but I don't want to have to worry about forking over a lot of money in the near future to switch platforms, especially since Tascam is doing absolutely nothing to encourage confidence in the Gigastudio user base. There is GREAT uncertainty in the market, and I'm willing to bet that a lot of people are going to stand back and wait.

    If VSL announces a liberal policy for switching sampler platforms (and possibly the ability to run on multiple platforms with one license), I would be willing to confidently move forward and spend some of my hard-earned money. [;)]

    At the moment we have not fixed our double license policies.
    Below I'm reposting an answer to this question out of a previous topic,
    maybe it makes sense for you:

    If you buy now the Gigaversion First Edition and than go with our VIP upgrade path to the Pro Edition, then you could buy the EXS Version.
    You will get the whole set including the stuff of the first edition. So you will own a native Giga and EXS version only paying for one version. Of course you can do this vice versa.
    It depends on your needs, which version is more important for you.

    The reply above was to an original post of mine. I am not sure I quite understand how this will work. But it sounds as if I must "choose" which platform I will use by the time I upgrade to Pro Edition. As a practical matter, this may not be enough time for me to determine which platform will best suit my needs and most effectively run your wonderful product.
    I understand that you are still working out details of multi-platform licenses as well as cross-grades. As you do this I would like to reiterate the importance to me of feeling secure that I can switch platforms well into the future at a minimal cost, prior to investing $5,000 today. Thank you again for your efforts and I wish you great success with VSL. Sincerely,
