  • What do you mean...no legato?

    William
When you said it had no legato are you referring to the tool or samples and were you talking about VSL or GG strings...you can tell I'm chomping at the bit for my Orchestral Cube!

  • Hello,
I meant Garritan Strings had no legato - it does have a utility for legato using "masking" samples, but not a true legato of actual played intervals, which the VSL performance set does have.

    Thanks...

  • could you please explain what you mean by "masked" samples and how it differs from the interval played legato of VSL for uh...a friend of mine who doesn´t completely understand it?

...my friend is such a moron... [*-)]

  • The Garritan Legato Tool is made by masking samples. That means that when you play legato, the first note you play will be normal, and the following notes will have their attacks masked, so that it looks like a real legato line. So you'll hear less attack on these legato notes than on the first note. This legato tool is triggered with the sustain pedal. So when you hit the pedal, the masking samples are set to "on".

    Hope this helps,
    Martin

  • and the difference is

The VSL legato is actual sampled legato, from one note to the next. You get teh nuances of fingers moving to the next note.
