  • Solo Violin gone loopy?

I'm having a slight freak out right now... I swear my VI Solo Violin is pulling up the wrong samples. My perf-legato sounds like perf-detache, and more notably, my sus_vib-progr sounds like some crazy molto vib sample! And I LOVE the progressive vib, normally. Either my ears have gone crazy, or something's awry. I tried removing the folders from the directory manager, and replacing (reboot, of course), but same deal. Does anybody know if it's possible for the data on disk to actually become messed up in such a way that the wrong samples load, under different names? This is really strange, and kind of unnerving. J.

  • bump, bump, bump... This is rather serious, so if any VSL folks are "in" on the weekend, please lend me your thoughts. I'm going slightly insane over this one. I should mention that I also had one of my previous Horn solo patches go a bit funky. The perf-legato was making a low pop noise on legato transitions, and also on repetitions. It sounded to me like the attack envelope was not happening (instantaneous transition noise - it was just clunking right in, beyond the actual sample start - an offset of somekind). This noise was *only* present on one of my presets, though. The factory legato patch was fine. With the solo violin, I noticed that the sample which was playing in place of the actual progressive vib (sus_Vib-progr) had a rebow a few seconds into it. Does the sus_Vib-progr normally have a rebow? If not, what sample might be playing back? Is it possible that this is a somehow mangled player, and that the vibrato sample (with rebow) that I'm hearing is actually a pre-programmed repetition/alternation note on the sus_Vib-progr patch (which would understandably have vibrato, being intended for repetitions only)? Any thoughts **very** much appreciated. I'm going to try re-installing the VI software, just to see if that cures it... Help! --J.

  • Hey, guess what? I'm an idiot! ....I just realized that last night when I was having this problem I actually had *two* midi programs open on my sequencer machine. So, it turns out I was, in fact, hearing the repetition/alternation programming, and hearing it *immediately* following the first note... glad I figured this out. I guess that makes me a clever idiot. ;-)
