Special Edition demos - question
-
No replies, so I downloaded the files. (I do not have Special Edition - I have the Cube plus several extra packages) I put the custom presets where they should be, and loaded the Logic song. It opened immediately which told me that something was wrong - it should have taken a long time to open all the instruments.
Sure enough, nothing worked. I then tried opening the custom presets from the demo in the Vienna Standalone (they do appear) but these presets do NOT load. [:(]
My question again (Herb, anyone...) : will these files only work for Special Edition owners? If so, I will get off my chair onto hands and knees and ask PLEASE for a version that might work for Cube owners. Demos are very instructive and I would love to be able to play this song on my system.
I understand that I may not have all the instruments required (eg Bosendorfer in my case), but then I could perhaps substitute for the ones that are missing.

Hi Colin,
sorry for the late answer.
The Demos work with the Special Edition exclusively, it was quite some work to do the mixing on all these different formats. If there are more requests for this, we will do our best to release a version for the Symphonic Cube, but that will need some more time, as it is very busy here in Vienna at the moment!
Best,
Paul

Thanks for the answer Paul - though it doesn't make me happy of course.[^o)]
I thought that it would simply be a matter of making presets for Cube instruments, then loading these presets into the song. After all, the Special Edition is a "cutdown" of the Cube as I understand.
So, fellow Cube-ers, please flood this topic with your requests.....
Regards - Colin

Well .. I reckon my own continuous bitching about presets may have been another reason they did these first presets :D Though if you have the cube I reckon you can still use the Special Edition setup as a guideline. I certainly intend to use it with my First Edition and SE. But of course my main need was for a comprehensive mix setup that "finally" got rid of the mud, and phase crap that I've been going through for many a year. If only I knew about that Pre and post fade option in Logic .. that would have settled may a problem .. they never tell you these things in the book .. no they have to tell you about the gazillian bass amp emulators, and compressors! This stuff is soooo getting mentioned on the next podcast.

I cannot open the DP 5.1 file from the OSX download. Although the Logic files have an .iso extension, and the Cubase files have a .cpr extension, the DP 5.1 files do not have any extension when I open the Zip file. When I transfer it to my Mac, the extension shows up as .exe, which is indicative of a PC program. Perhaps the problem is due to the fact that I downloaded the OSX zip file from VSL's site to a PC and copied it to a CD for transfer to my Mac, which has no internet connection???
So..., what extension did the DP 5.1 files have when you created them? I wan to try changing the extension from .exe to see if that works.

Hi,
we tried to find out what the "real" extension used for DP projects is, unfortunately without success.
We just tested different extensions - DP opened even ".txt" files and we had no problem on different machines to open the file.
On the other hand, I´m not a DP expert - hopefully someone will shed some light on this issue.
Best,
Paul
