  • All i can say is WOW, and even the site has upgraded. Makes me feel good to be apart of this community and feel great to be in the music world. Im a late blumer but I'm here now. And maybe some of you pro VSL pro's out there can give us a break down of what this new upgrade can do for us now and in the future. Wow,lol

  • Anyone know if MIR will run on Vienna Ensemble exclusively? It would be great if it was VST.[:)]

  • Questions: Logic user here. Going to L8 & Mac Pro 8-core very soon. - OK, it's AU. So it can run within L8 and external to L8 on the same computer? - Do you see the (new version) of the Vienna Instrument interfaces also? It looks as though you can't see all the controller as you do on the current VI. So how much screen clutter will there be when you have multiple VI's open and a Vienna Ensemble both within the host and external to it? Is there some better way to manage all the open GUI's? - Will we be able to connect from VE to L8 via the Inter Application Bus? - So I take it to mean that when we close an L8 project and open another we won't have to reload an external VE which happens to be on the computer?

  • Oh my, my! This is way too exciting. Definitely won't sleep until October 25th. The timing couldn't be better either, since I just finished building a new 8GB PC slave machine. And if Apple manages to release a new Mac Pro soon (I'm guessing around the time of Leopard), then I'm going to be *very* nicely set up!!! Happy times. And a free upgrade for registered VI users! That's a real bonus. A big thanks to the VSL. cheers, J.

  •  Hmmmm, very exciting news !! [:)]

  • I wonder if they could really not find a bigger screenshot of it ..... strange ... best

  • fantastic - I hope this will sit comfortably inside SIbelius5 as a VST.[8-|]

  • Vienna Ensemble looks good. Forum looks cr*p. Can't even get to the bottom of a page. Frustrating........

  •  Looks exciting ... but sorry for being a bit dumb here ...

How does this work with a DAW?  My first reading of the notice led me to believe it was a stand-alone host for VI instruments, for putting on another PC / MAC.

But for those of us who work with only a single PC, what is the benefit of this and how is it connected to a DAW?

Yeah I'm not wild about the new forum. Maybe I just hate change. These frames are kinda annoying, except that they don't seem to be frames...

Hetoryn: Your post made me laugh quite hard. 😄

Drew, on XP32, I can't see any advantage at all. On XP64, it could mean that even with a 32bit sequencer you could use loads of RAM. I guess that it is really aimed at Mac users, who don't have a 64bit OS.

    Hurumph......[^o)]

  • Logic user here as well. Is this basically its own sequencer for a node computer, but also useable as an AU just like VI currently is?

  • This seems interesting. :)

"Separated server solution that doesn’t address RAM used either by your host sequencer or by Vienna Instruments plug-ins running alongside the sequencer and Vienna Ensemble."

"Prepared for 64-bit PCs and Macs"

I wonder if these mean in Vista 64 that the application is 32 bit but it has its own address space meaning that if the DAW  addresses 4 gigs the Vienna Ensemble can address another 4 gigs?

  • All I know is that I want it. OH god how I want it.

  • Anyway, if you're unable to sleep ... you'll surely tired around september 25 [8-)]

  • Well, whatever unspeakable acts tire him out on September 25th, he'll have a whole month to recover before the Vienna Ensemble comes out on October 25th.

  • this is soooo cool.

Now if AudioEase would get their backside in gear and get a 64 bit version of Altiverb out, we'd be rockin.

  •  I wonder when the new videos will be online so we can get a look at the VE.

    So many questions!

  • Does anyone know how sequencers will interact with Vienna Ensemble?  Will it be by MIDI, i.e., will you be able to assign each VI a MIDI input channel and send data to the corresponding channel in the sequencer?  And if V.E. is being used on a standalone "server" computer, how does the controller interface with it (MIDI, direct USB, ethernet, etc?)
