    Hello.

    I'm new to the Vienna Instruments. I've got an 88 key Piano/controller that doesn't have aftertouch.
    I'd like to buy a 61 note midi controller with aftertouch but then I can't use the lower and higher octave key switches because they'd be out of range while I'm recording live.

    Should I get an 88 key controller or is there a way to work around this?

    Hello NealF,

    I'll bet if you took a poll of the people who use VI on a regular basis that almost all of us use an 88-key controller - because of the amount of keyswitching we go through.

    There are a few of us who don't use keyswitching to change articulations and matrices however.

    There are many threads in this over the years mentioning different keyboard controllers. You might want to do a search.

    Even though I'm new to VI it looked like key switching would be a good thing to make use of. I probably will want to use it but was wondering if anyone was using it successfully with less than an 88 keyboard.

    Maybe there's a controller that makes it easy, somehow??
