  • Really? Wow! That's incredible, I'm one of 'those' Beatles fans and I never noticed that. That's cool. I learned something today.

  • Omg, you're totally right. How cool is that, seriously?

    Great sound off that harpsicord.

    Hello Banquo
Yes I also detect a bum note!
The devil only knows how that bum has found its way into this chicken run. [[[;)]]]

  • Cool arrangement, Christian !!

With all due respect to Margeret Rutherford, waiting to hear that NIFTY theme is the ONLY reason I ever watched those Miss Marple movies!

  • Lovely piece, Guy!

    Best,
    Jay

  • Great performances. I like the Miss Marple and Guy's piece a lot. Also the Brandenburg. Karg-Elert is interesting. He wrote some great brass music as well.

Ron Goodwin - isn't he the composer of the score to Hitchcock's Frenzy? That was one of the few very good non-Herrmann scores for a Hitchcock film.

  • The Miss Marple theme's always been one of my favourites - I'm happy to find it here!

    Three cheers,
    d.

  • hello all@vsl-forum

yes and yes... miss marple is a good day-starter [:)]

  • hups.. to quick with "enter"... [:O]ops: ....

thanks also for uploading this piece in 256kbps..
since im member yesterday, i think i start to really like this forum

guy: did you composed the orchestral arr with appassionata?

greats (have to hear that piece the 4th time [:)])
    markus

  • Thanks Jay [[[;)]]], William [[[;)]]] and Markus [[[;)]]]

    Beat,

    I love your Brandenburg! [:D]

    Christian,

A lot of fun what you did. Love it! Do the drums all come from VSL? Interesting if so...

    Stefan,

I enjoyed your interpretation in both, harpsichord and harmonium. The harmonium pieces (and interpretation) are very charming, interesting style...

    Markus,

The strings were composed with Appa and some other VSL string lib.
And thanks for your nice compliment. [:)]

    Oh, Cage is a genius
...but I dont think he'd ever pretends to be romantic

I wonder what Cage would have done in the Age of sample engines
    - perhaps preparing prepared piano samples. [[;)]]

With Cage's inventive mind he'd probably be working on prepared computer samples, whatever that would be! [*-)]

perhaps even more probable, that he'd sit 4′33″ in front of his Laptop or
perhaps more likely would programm another ASLSP piece for Longtime Samples up to the Year 3020 (that would be a great job for an evrything else surpassing highlevel VSL Sample Library with each single Sample needs several terabyte RAM) [H]

  • I'm sure if Cage was alive he'd manufacture samples for 4'33", and they would be expensive! [:D]

Of course since 4'33" is an extraordinary Pianopiece that uses all keys in the same way, you have to sample them all over the keyboard

... of course, those are the very special Keyboard samples that are still missing in the new VSL Sampleset. [[;)]]

  • I could imagine during the recording session at Abbey Road studio, all the recording engineers looking at each other, confused [8-)] , while John Cage is recording these samples....

  • Yes. Also the mastering engineer wondering whether to apply further noise reduction . . . [*-)]

Of course thatt will be a nightmare for every mediocre Masteringchap:
to keep the original 4'33" of each key without any perceptible disturbances at all. -
Thats the ultimate challenge only the VSL-Team is ready to cope with [[;)]]
