Is there a countdown displayed somewhere so I know how many extended starts I have left?

How can you tell how many demo starts remaining?
-
demo mode #1 - 180 starts for all (VSL) applications:
you can see a key labeled DEMO in the list of licenses, if it is not expanded click the [+] and see the remaining starts.
demo mode #2 - 30 days / 30 starts for a specific collection: see the remaining days (you might have to re-load starts within the 30 days if the number of starts is used).
you can request a demo mode #2 activation code for the extended library of each collecton at activate@vsl.co.at (1 code per collection and user having already registered the respective standard library)

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds. -

I don't see what you're referring to. I don't see any DEMO key or [+].

eric, i just noticed you registered 4 times and have merged your accounts now.
please have a look at the register & install video because as far as i see you have not downloaded the license to your ViennaKey so far.
this means every launch of the VI and each time loading a patch is eating up a demo start, including the standard ...

Thanks, I finally figured it out. Sorry for all the duplicate registrations.

eric, thanks for letting me know, we'll try to give the Vienna Instruments registration a more prominent place - please write to activate@vsl.co.at for e demo mode #2 activation code in case you run out early now.
