  • Vienna Key and USB Hubs

I find my Vienna Key isn't recognised in a USB hub even though theb little red light is on. With other syncrosonic keys just taking them out and putting them back again will normally allow them to be recognised when they come up as missing but the Vienna Key won't do it. It only works when attached directly to the computer (Mac G5)

With 9 dongles so far and counting....this could become a problem.

    Anyone else found this?

  • I use an active hub for the Vienna Key and it works fine. Please make sure to have the latest version of Syncrosoft´s License Control Center installed.

    Best regards,

    Maya

  • i'd like to add there are several levels where problems can occure ...
the amount of power available on a USB port is limited, so especially if the key is not the only device a powered hub should do the trick.
additionally there are different USB protocols which not always communicate flawlessly (eg. a USB 2 hub on a USB 1 port) - some keyboards with integrated USB hubs don't accept the key at all.
there have also been reported certain issues with USB with the latest update to 10.4.9 and drivers from other devices.
finally attaching and unpluggging even simple USB-sticks can cause errors on the USB bus (although this should not happen according to the USB specification)
