  • midi channels in Special edition

Hi, I'm a brand newbie at this forum I just purchased the VSL special edition.
I use Digital Performer and have set up my small orchestra template using several instances of the interface and articulations. My question is... can I assign midi channels to play certain patches/articulations within the instruments??? also I can't seem to find where the midi channels assignments are displayed. any thoughts?????

    Thank you

  • Hi PL. The Vienna Instrument doesn't have a MIDI channel select facility - it's designed to play on all 16 channels (aka 'omni mode'). This means you have to use a separate instance of the VI for each independent MIDI track.

  • Thanks Conquer, It doesn't seem all that efficient but I can live with it. The patches sound good and once i get my user presets ready I'll give this baby a whirl.

    Thanks again

  • Hopefully you'll find that being ably to instantly switch between 12 matrices (each containing upto 144 patches) within one instance will compensate for the lack of multi-timbral operation. Figuring out the best way to do the switching will certainly take your mind off it anyway!
