  • VSL SE and Soft Dongle - a suggestion

    Hi VSL

I've recently purchased a copy of Steinberg Sequel primarily for use as an introductory teaching aid for new music students. Anyway that's by the by, what was of interest is it uses a version of Syncrosoft that supports a "software dongle" rather than the familiar USB one we all use. It got me thinking that wouldn't it be great to be able to use the SE with a software dongle - would it be possible to transfer the licence from the key to the soft dongle, would the VI VST/AU/Standalone versions support this - perhaps just for the SE?

It would certainly make mobile music much easier.

    Just a thought.

I would have thought that this would make mobile music more difficult. At the moment all that you have to do is plug the dongle into the machine and away you go, but if there was a software dongle one would have to go down the route of removing the software licence from the sodt dongle, saving it on the hardware dongle, transferring to another computer and then downloading the licence from the hard to the soft dongle. This would be a real hassle for me.

  • from what i've heard soft dongle and hardware key are (at least currently) not compatible - if i understood it correctly soft dongle is using a less advanced license management.
