    I am not sure if my processor is good enough for VI. I have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ which is stated to run at only 2.4 ghz. Is this good enough?

    Next,if I do get any VI libraries do the samples have to be installed on the main (C) drive or can they be put on a secondary drive?

    welcome luces, a 2,4 GHz processor is a good beginning, enough RAm is more an issue in most cases.
    we recommend to install samples for streaming _not_ on the system drive, for good performance samples should reside on a seperate disk (not only onother volume/partition if this applies in your setup)

    Thanks very much for the reply. I have two more questions with regards to the VI-1 Solo Strings. I would like very much to purchase the Std+Ext library, but at this point I can only afford the Std library, so I would like to know if the Std library really contains enough articulations to create many real sounding solos or is the Ext, necessary to do all of the cool stuff I hear on the demos and see in the videos? The video demos are really exciting, but I am not sure how many of those examples are using the Ext. libraries.

    Also,are the runs able to sync to my host tempo or are they independent of the host?

    you will get very far with the Standard Library [:)]

    Of course the Extended Library takes everything a big step further. You get a 180 starts demo license (sits on your Vienna Key) when you receive the Standard Library, so that yo can check out the Extended Library.

    The runs don´t sync to your tempo, they were played at the highest possible playing speed where you can still determine the scale. This way they fit in very nicely in most contexts, and you can always also use the fast Performance Interval patches or even the Performance Trill patches if you need the runs to be performed at a certain speed.

    Great. That's good news about the 180 starts. Very nice idea. So, you are saying that it is possible to sync "runs" to my host tempo by using Performance Intervals, or are you saying that I will get only very close to the tempo?

    Hi Luces,

    What Paul meant is that you can record the runs yourself using the fast Performance Interval patches and therefore have them playing back in time at any speed you desire.
