I saw a post by someone in another forum, in reply to a producer who wanted to hire someone with a library like Vienna Instruments to do some overdubs on his album.
Or to be more specific, let's say an artist who has written a song wants some Vienna string overdubs and commissions me, as a licensed VI owner, to write and record the string overdubs in my studio.
Someone replied that this would not be legally permissable, and that the owner of VI could only use it on his or her own material, and in a situation like the above, both myself AND THE END CLIENT would have to own a VSL license.
Can someone clarify? It would seem if this were the case, then if I did a movie score, the movie company would have to own VSL as well, as well as any client I did work for. This makes no sense at all.
Thanks
Tom H
