  • VSL forums: problem with Safari

I'm having difficulty posting at the VSL forums lately.

I usually use Safari, and find it almost impossible to post replies. If I clear my cache and delete all VSL cookies, start again (log in) and post, it works.

I had to post this using an old version of Netscape.

    Any ideas....

    Regards - Colin

  • not really, many of us are using safari ... does this happen in the view with or without navigation (vsl.co.at/form vs. forum.vsl.co.at), have you autologin checked and/or added login to keychain?

ps: ahh - so you are the lonely entry for netscape in our serverlogs [;)]

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Hi cm,

My bookmark for the forums is:
    http://vsl.co.at/english/pages/forum/start/forum.htm

What shows in the info bar is:
    http://vsl.co.at/en-us/69/128/33.vsl

I often open a sub-forum in a new tab in Safari. For example, to view the EXS24 topics, I open the link in a new tab and it shows:
    http://community.vsl.co.at/viewforum.php?f=9&iframe=true

When I try to post from Safari, I get a message:
Invalid Session. Please resubmit the form.

I just tried to post this answer with Safari and could not.
Therefore, I remain your solitary Netscape statistic.....

    Regards - Colin

PS: Netscape just gave me the same message! I deleted this cookie:
    ASP.NET_SessionId
    and tried again

Edit: After deleting the cookie above, my post went through

  • Hi Colin,

I actually work the same way in Safary using tabs - no problems so far, so it seems to be a matter of setting your preferences...

Please try the direct link to the forum http://community.vsl.co.at/ - no navigation, but this should overrule the cookie issue and it works perfectly for me!

    Hope this helps,
    Best, Marnix

  • Hi marnix,

I'm now in Safari trying your link.
As soon as I hit reply, I got 2 cookies from VSL.

Let's see if I can post this....

    Regards - Colin

Edit: okay - I tried to post and I got the same error message.
Then I went to Safari preferences and looked at the Security Tab.
    The choices :
Accept Cookies: • Always / • Never / •Only from sites you navigate to

I had selected the 3rd option
When I change to the first option, I *CAN* post.

So, it seems that VSL somehow sets cookies from a slightly different site name (??)
Maybe you could try selecting the 3rd option and see if it blocks you from posting.

    Edit no 2:
I posted, then wanted to edit again, and could not do it. I have now cleared the Safari cache and am trying again.

    ...Didn't work

  • Hi Colin,

Hm, I am writing this very reply with Safari 2.0.4 under MacOS 10.4.8 with my cookie prefs set to "Only from sites you navigate to", so this does not seem to be the problem...

I have to admit that I am at the end of my wits here, but CM just told me he will look into this again!

    Best, Marnix

  • Thanks Marnix,

Please don't spend more time on this. You guys have more important things to do.....

I'll try to work out the problem here.
I really do appreciate your fast replies and your help!

    Regards - Colin
