  • Appassionata = WOW

    Hey VSL guys,

I'm finally getting around to using my Appassionata Strings in a film project, and I just have to say: WOW. They're even better than I hoped they would be. I'm surprised (pleasantly!) at how playable and realistic even the full strings patch is. You don't necessarily need to record individual sections on some things because that single patch sounds fantastic when played with both hands, chordally.

For anyone who's contemplating buying these, just take the plunge. The whole matrix thing can be confusing at first (and honestly, it still IS a little confusing to me but the video tutorials help) but even without all the bells and whistles, this collection is extremely PLAYABLE. I'm lovin' it.

  • I second that. Before I bought AP strings, I was already underway with work on a documentary. I just used them for the first time on a cue. I hope the director doesn't make me go back and re-do the previous cues!

  • I agree completely with that and am having a lot of fun right now with both the sound of the Appassionata violins AND cellos (not to mention violas). They are a tremendously rich, full, natural sound, right at your fingertips. Also, the matrix switching, optimizing, other programming of VI are fantastic and essentially solve the problems of sample performance that have plagued older software. It is simply a brilliantly designed system.

  • I'm very happy with them. Closest thing to a real string section of any lib so far.
